Time without screens is essential for healthy growth and healthy living, not only for children but for people of all ages. Too often, it seems that we, as a society, have accepted that we can’t live without them—we organize meetings using screens; we’re even publicizing and organizing Screen-Free Week using screens. But there’s a difference, a gulf perhaps, between sensible use and saturation. At ACME, we teach that difference, and we teach tools to understand the impacts of screens and to counter the manipulation of Big Media. Screen-Free Week, organized each year by the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, is one of those tools. ACME applauds the ongoing efforts of our friends at CCFC.
